Project Description
The Brief
Gym Marine was commissioned to design and supply equipment for gym spaces onboard BP Shipping’s new fleet of Oil and Gas carriers.
The ships being constructed included the AfraMax/SuezMax Class Project Neptune Vessels of 140/150k DWT, and the Handy Pocket Size 50/60k DWT Project Triton Vessels.
Each vessel was delivered with a fully functional gym space, and a diverse range of equipment was included to satisfy the needs of crew members serving long stints at sea.
The Design
Gym Marine faced various spacial constraints when challenged with specifying equipment for the new fleet, and therefore were careful in their selection of space saving and custom made equipment.
Across the two classes of ship we endeavoured to ensure that there was sufficient space for floor exercises and free weights, and that there were no health and safety concerns for crew members using the machines.
Acrylic Mirrors were supplied for wall mounting as they are easily installed and shatter-proof.
